Sonja Davenport has danced professionally for 12 years with major ballet companies such as Pacific Northwest Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet and most recently Colorado Ballet. She has studied with world renowned directors and choreographers and was trained at the prestigious Joffrey Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, and Pacific Northwest Ballet. She has been teaching Classical Ballet to children and Adults since 2006 and has just recently moved to Fairhope from Denver, Colorado.
Whitney Nabors graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2016. Her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography with a minor in Theatre provided her experience in the performance, technique, and production of dance works in ballet and modern dance. While at Southern Miss, Whitney performed in the Resident Dance Company for three years, and choreographed two dance films and one concert dance work. Her junior choreographic project, “Looking Beyond,” was one of twenty dance films selected for the gala performance of the 2016 Dance Shorts: College Film Festival hosted by Arizona State University. Since graduating, Whitney has worked as the technical director for Hub Dance Collective for two seasons and has designed lighting for several university concerts. Whitney is excited to be back home on the Eastern Shore, sharing her love of dancing with her students!
Ms Madi had a baby boy, Thatcher Gray Thompson, on June 6, 2017, weighing 8 lb 12 oz and measuring 21 inches. Unfortunately, she will not return to Creative Outlet and she has written a personal note to her students
In the weeks leading up to recital Keith was offered a job in Bradenton, FL. After lots of thinking, and praying, we decided God was moving in our lives and we needed to be obedient to the calling… We relocated on May 14th and are slowly transitioning into our new life here in central-south Florida.
.As many of you know my long term plan was to continue teaching following a short break in summer. In the weeks my three years teaching at CODC has been an honor and privilege. I am grateful to Gina Lanaux and Pagan Mosher for their wisdom, guidance, and support of me as a dance teacher. I am thankful for each one of you parents who took the time each week to bring your child to class, encourage them, watch them, listen to all their dance terms/”Ms. Madi-isms” at home, and promote a positive learning environment. Finally, I am blessed to have had the opportunity to work with each of your sweet dancers. They made each day at the studio such a happy place full of life, excitement, creativity, and imagination. Each one of them has had an impact on my life and it has been a pleasure to watch them blossom and grow. I hope each of them continues to dance. Please trust Creative Outlet to continue to give your dancers the best dance education around!
We will all miss Madi , but please know that we only hire the most qualified and experienced dance instructors and we work with each one to insure that their standards of excellence are the same as ours and the quality dance education that you are accustomed to will remain intact. We have added some more adult Ballet Classes and even a Mommy and Me class for 18 months to 2.5 year olds as well as an evening Ballet and Jazz combo class for 1st – 3rd grades.
We also have extra Recital DVDs if you didn’t order in May. They cost $40 and may be picked up at the studio.
Can’t wait to see all of you again in class in August!
