February/March Newsletter 2017
Our Spring Performance/ Recital is set for Saturday May 6th and Sunday May 7th at the Fairhope Civic Center. The costumes have been ordered and should begin arriving soon. We ordered from 7 different companies so they will all come in at different times. Our instructors are selecting music, choreographing the dances and beginning to teach the dance steps. It is imperative that students commit to this performance and strive to attend their classes. Each member of the class has a specific place, partner or group with specific steps that they must execute and this all works together like teamwork to make a quality performance. Each dancer needs to have confidence that comes with much practice before going on the stage. It is not good for the student or fair to the rest of the class that attends regularly when one student misses too much and brings the whole group down to a lesser level of quality. If you think that there will be a conflict with class attendance (i.e. sports, clubs, school etc) please let us know now so that we can make other arrangements. We want every dancer to be the best that they can be and like anything worth doing; this comes with much training, practice and a commitment to the art of dance. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
When costumes arrive, there may need to be some basic sewing involved, straps, hems etc. If the costume requires alteration please consult with us on how to proceed. Ballet dancers will need pink tights and pink shoes (we have plenty) and jazz, tap, hip hop and acro students’ teachers will specify what they need for the show. The Saturday night show “2 Kings, Queen and Prince” will feature Level 1 classes (2nd grade) and up and will begin at 6 pm on May 6th. Sunday May 7th, “Snow White” will showcase our primary students ages 3 through first grade and will begin at 3:00 pm in the afternoon.
On Friday February 17h, the streets will close in downtown Fairhope at 5pm for a parade. We will combine classes and hold all 4:45 classes at 3:45.
